1.....RICKEY DALE says.....
GOOD DAY TO ALL...........well we are in the thick of the powerlifting season..........state meets are starting to take place......and some of the national meets are just around the corner........and the flu and cold season is upon us also.........and the two do not go hand in hand............as an athlete we sometimes (and boy am i the most guilty of this) think we are immune to sickness or injury.........and we are not........it may take more of the bug to get us, but if it does it can wreck weeks or months of good training........so a few ideas to help you avoid or diminish the problem.....make sure you are getting plenty of rest and recuperation after each workout.........keep the vitamin-supplements going strong......(and some extra c complex)......plenty of liquids to keep your body rehydrated..........
it is better to prevent it than to treat it after the fact.....
try "the POWER FORUM" at http://members.boardhost.com/powerforum/
..........talk to others and have your say..........
2.....POWERLIFTING PARAPHERNALIA AND TRIVIA.....
and the winner of last weeks trivia question and the free cmw t-shirt is......walt mayer of oxford, mississippi....he had the only correct answer of LARRY PACIFICO......
and this week's trivia question is................wht is the name of the first powerlifting magazine/newsletter soley dedicated to powerlifting/strength lifting?????
3.....POWERLIFTING ROUTINES AND INFO.....
many/most powerlifting routines are successful or can be successful if done properly........i really do not believe that many are that much superior to others...only the way they are implemented.......basic 5 sets of 5 reps is still one of the hardest and most basic routines.............make sure you set up the cycle to achieve something reasonable in the way of an increase to be reached at the end of your cycle.......do every set of every rep and work on your form...style and technique in the earlier and lighter stages of the routines as well as each workout when warming up.....
i would like to try an experiment........most routines have been around in some form or the other for 50 years or more (not all, but most)......most make a comeback when some charismatic person ..slaps a fancy name on it and pushes it to high heaven.............so we are going to make up our own workoput ...ONE THAT REALLY DOES NOT EXIST) AND ASK EACH OF YOU TO TELL SOMEONE ABOUT IT.....TELL THEM YOU JUST HEARD ABOUT IT...BUT YOU DO NOT KNOW ANY DETAILS...JUST THAT IT WORKS.........
how long will it be before it is floating around the would as "the workout"??????????
so here goes....tha name od the new workout is "the five star workout"......push it and see how ridiculous it will seem when 3 months from now someone approaches you with this new workout....most likely with some actual reps and sets......
4.....NUTRITION AND SUPPLEMENTS.....you are what you eat.....
CoQ10...say what?!?.................coenzyme-Q10...........most lifters have no clue as to what it is............i started using it about 15 years ago or so.......and.........it has terrific antioxidant effects...it has shown to be very promising in helping to increase the lifespan and longevity of ones years on this planet.........it helps with cell growth and offers some protection in muscle injuries and in the healing process........i use 100 mg two times a day...and have had positive results..it also helps with the immune system........
there are many supplements out there that work without going into the latest fad on the market.....again i reiterate...start with a basic high potency vitamin and mineral supplement...add in extra vitamin c and then next on the list should be a protein supplement...either an amino acid product for those wanting to lose or maintain their present weight or a good quality protein powder, like whey or egg-white if you are trying to gain mass and/or size ........you can then go on to creatine and so on.....do not ever quit the first few......and you can go as far as your pocket book allows.......
it is still amazing at the number of athletes who try and train at the level they do but supplement themselves no better than what their grandmothers do??????? if you all need some personal advice please call or e-mail us and we will be more than glad to help....
remember at a minimum; high potency vitamins and minerals and extra vitamin c.....and creatine if you are really into it..........

5.....PARTING THOUGHTS.....
we are closing out and reducing stock on all of our muscle up tanning and bodybuilding products.......call us for info....everything is 1/2 price if you talk to me and ask for it....so stock up for the summer....
weight training has been a part of my life since i was just a few years old....my father started training as a teenager in the early 40's.........and then started my brother and in the middle 50's.........but be aware as with anything in life even that can be over done to the point of sacrificing the more important things for satisfaction of being superior in a particular area.........you can still be a fanatic and train harder than anyone else...set your goals higher...and achieve greater status and records...but always remember where to draw the line..........for there is a point of diminishing returns for everything in life.......know where it is......
this summer will be my 30 year high school class reunion.....and my goal is to be the best looking..most buff (in today's vernacular)....male of the class of 1971.......(of course the way some or most of those guys look..it should not be too hard...)...but i set high standards for myself....and as last resort i know i am still stronger and faster than all of them........
and as a doting father and one who likes to brag....here is a picture of my 11 year old son doing 3 reps with 175 lbs on the squat......more than i could do at 11 years old....and of course his form is impeccable like his father.........
a good day to all...
