1.....RICKEY DALE says.....

well it is the time of the year when most federations have their world championships............a very hearty good luck to all of the competitors as you travel to your different destinations...represent your country well......and hopefully the pr's will come your way.......

i will be in mesquite (las vegas) in a few weeks for the aau worlds.........they will be using the okie deadlift bar (as most federations do).......we will have the two bars being used for sale for a big discount (so we do not have to haul them back on the plane with us)....anybody who is interested in one of them..needs to contact me before the contest so we can put your name on it and make sure you get it...........remember it is the only true deadlift bar in the world...all the biggees own one........ed coan...louie simmons and westside barbell.......chaillet and the ipa........wpo......wpc/apf......etc......get one that is just like new for a big discount.......and also everyone come by the table and say hi..........

2.....POWERLIFTING PARAPHERNALIA AND TRIVIA.....

and this week's trivia question is .............when powerlifting and bodybuilding and olympic lifting were together under the a.a.u., what was unique about the way the powerlifting national meets and the bodybuilding national meets were run (i.e. the senior and junior nationals and the mr usa and mr jr usa)??????????

3.....POWERLIFTING ROUTINES AND INFO.....

as i was training this week i noticed one of my younger trainees (a national caliber and up and coming lifter)......workout.......i have not paid as much attention the past workout or two on his form...etc, as i should have...as his form has been improving..........his warmups were a bit haphazard......reps and sets were haphazard.....he still does not grasp the concept of routine......routine.....routine........every set...every rep should duplicate the previous..................that is why it is called routine(s).....

warmups are very important and most people neglect them....shrug them off.....do part of them some of the times or do whatever is on the bar at the time from a previous lifter......take that 2-3 sets with an empty bar...to not only loosen up but to work on form and style and technique..........work on speed and explosiveness.......make sure your warmups are the same in progressive nature each time....you know the weight......you know how it should and will feel..........when you start putting weight on the bar continue to practice the same thing...making each rep look exactly alike........you can never practice all the little things too much.......you need to get so it becomes like a bad habit......you do it without even thinking about it.......your good form will enhance your routines and help keep you from injury...........every rep from every set should be the same as if it was a max weight on your back...perform it with the same zeal and intensity level....THE WARMUPS SHOULD BE THE SAME WEIGHT EVERYTIME...as i previuosly stated...no surprises......routine is something that grows on you.use it to your advantage.........

5.....PARTING THOUGHTS.....

a short week to me......as it is fall break here in oklahoma.......all the schools are closed starting either wednesday or thursday for a few days........so i am disappearing for a few days...........and relieve some stress.........and how about those sooners..........are they for real or what...........beating two top ten teams back to back and scoring over 100 points in the process.........
my sooner father is glowing and says "they are back"...i am sure this will definitely help his bench and deadlift workouts this week......if they beat nebraska in two weeks i am sure he will be ready to enter a contest immediately!!!!!!!!!!!
it makes me feel good though that the big 12 schools are succeeding so well as they were among the first in the country to institute strength programs back in the 60's and 70's.......showing weights do make a difference....

so for all you kids on break...do not slack off on the training........find you a gym near where you will be for those 4-5 days and train like normal..........this is what makes a champ.........
