hello to all........the olympics has captured the attention of most the past few weeks..and a congratulation is in order to shane hammans for his american records he set in the olympic games...he has four years now to prepare for a medal...good luck shane......and thanks for your great outlook on life.......

it is great to see some of the athletes perform so well...the explosiveness of the sprinters is what i marvel at..........and it is great to be involved in a sport that uses your sport to prepare for all the other sports.....

i encourage each of you to forward any pictures or info that we might put in this newsletter..........

2.....POWERLIFTING PARAPHERNALIA AND TRIVIA.....

i have had some great guesses on the 2 week old trivia question........BUT NO RIGHT ANSWERS.........i will give another clue.......he is a british citizen.....

3.....POWERLIFTING ROUTINES AND INFO.....

i would like to discuss again the subject of overtraining....and tie it into routines...form and style and technique..........every week i receive numerous requests for routines.......and the answer i usually give is to go and write your own.............now some may think me mean and callous for that statement.......but........routines are not that important...or should i say not anywhere as near as important as the technique one must use in doing and performing the lift.......i wish people lifters would spend 1/10th the amount of time on form as they do on routines and their gains would be much more in line with what they want: i.e than in worrying about what sets and reps someone is doing.......

4.....NUTRITION AND SUPPLEMENTS.....you are what you eat.....

i found a great snack.............costs about .50 and tastes great.......opti soy nuts........by optimum.........for only two quarters it can curb your hunger...comes in many flavors and 13 grams of protein to boot........try them.....cheap and delicious is hard to come by nowdays.....

5.....PARTING THOUGHTS.....

well....another week has passed and i find the training is going much easier now that the 100 degree weather has left us here in the midwest.......

remember anything you can control while training do so.......because there are many factors you cannot control....do not be surprised by more than you can handle....

keep training hard,,,and remember all the other aspects of getting strong...proper nutrition...proper rest and stretching and be aggressive in your training.......
