1.....RICKEY DALE says.....
well....good day to all............and what a week it has been...since last talking to
you all..........had a major virus hit my e-mail address book and some other windows
programs......and i said good bye to over 1300 e-mail addresses many of which
were you the subscibers........so i have been trying to recreate and salvage some
of them..have gotten back about 400-500 names or so...so many of you will not
be getting your newsletter because of this....and of course the ones that
won't are the ones who cannot see this notice anyway...so i need your
help to get the word out......and thanks....
we are trying to jazz up the newsletter a bit.....so hope it is working.....we have
had a few people who use netscape that seem to be having problems...but it is
localized with that software only.....so i might suggest something else.....
SEEMS LIKE TECHNOLOGY ALWAYS HAS THE LAST SAY...RIGHT??????
2.....POWERLIFTING PARAPHERNALIA and TRIVIA.....
well we did not have a trivia winner from the past two weeks....the answer was
doug heath....
so on to this week's question..............who is the inventor of the famous
"okie grip collars"......(hint...not me)......
3.....FORM.....STYLE.....TECHNIQUE.....and ROUTINES.....
see below tom hines with a 600 lb squat in the 198 lb class at the
zumbro valley meet....

also a 335 lb bench press by 148lb'er paul wong......

just a quick note......i see way too much lifting and specializing going on in younger
(under 18) and older (40-50 and up) lifters....too many supplementary exercises being
done.......if you are a powerlifter or an athlete you need to quit trying to train like a
pro bodybuilder.......they are not the same...concentrate on the big three with some basic
supplementary exercises..remember ...an arnold you are not trying to become.... and it is next
to impossible in trying to train for bodybuilding and powerlifting (or strength training) at the
same time.....something has to give...and if you insist on doing it...it will be you...
in the next few weeks i am going to talk some on rehabbing injuries and surgeries........this is
becoming more prevalent so thought i would throw in my 2 cents worth as being a
veteran of both...
4.....NUTRITION and SUPPLEMENTS.....you are what you eat.....
Powerlifters, athletes and bodybuilders seem to be just as gullible sometimes as the
general public in buying what is advertised in the magazines. Do not believe everything
you hear, especially since most of it is written by the people selling the products. The basics
are the best.
make big plans and set big
goals as to what you would like to accomplish in your lifting and supplement accordingly.....
Beware of "everything" you read in print, even question my advice. Remember, I believe
through the years with all my experiences, training partners and talking to all of the
greats in powerlifting and other sports, I have narrowed it down to what I believe is
the best training and nutritional regiment. As well as the proper form, style and technique. But I can always
learn.
it is amazing to me how many athletes still do not even take a vitamin-mineral supplement or
if they do, not a high potency vitamin-mineral supplement...... i look and participate on many
forums...and most lifters in question or answer to what supplements are needed to enhance
their training and performance rarely mention the vitamins and minerals....quit spending all
your money on the latest fad......and concentrate on the basics..(now where have i heard that
before).....aminos and protein are the next item to be concerned with..... i guess about every
other letter on this subject will be the norm...until it starts sinking in...... i am always
curious
how they expect to make the gains they want and have their body operate at an optimum level
when they are constantly depleted of the much needed nutrients which act as a catalyst in their
system.... so get smart......
.....and check out the incredible supplement specials at

5.....PARTING THOUGHTS.....
and for those of you going to any powerlifting meets in missouri...i guess it
would be wise to avoid this gas station.....

ALSO......we have the supertraining book by dr siff back in stock again..........and the
dave draper book is something for everybody'......with lots of pics...stories and
other goodies about some of the oldtime irongame people from the 60's and forward.......
everyone should have a copy of this book in their library..........well another day and
another P.R.....continued success to all powerlifters in all federations...do what you
do best and that is train hard and lifts lots of weight.......if i can be of service in any
way do not hesitate to e-mail (fastest way to get an answer..usually) ...call or write.......
i will do my best and i always answer every letter/e-mail....sometimes
it may take me a day or so as i get hundreds each day...but you will get an answer......
we are back to 400-500 plus subscribers after the virus deleted 1200 of you guys from
the system.......so tell your friend about us....send us pics...
articles...suggestions....we will get it in sooner or later......i must apologize to some
of our customers ...we have been a bit slower than usual the past few months in geting
orders out.......we are just getting swamped and are trying to get caught up...please be
patient......see you all next week...
AND VERY GOOD LIFITNG TO ALL THE USAPL MASTERS LIFTERS AT THE NATIONAL
MASTERS THIS WEEKEND....SEND ME SOME PICS.......I LOVE THE OLD GUYS YOU
KNOW AS I "ARE ONE NOW"................
